What an Indian manufacturer can actually find, and what it cannot
Outbound works for manufacturing when your buyers are businesses that publish a way to contact them — dealers, distributors, fabricators, contractors. It works badly when your buyer is a procurement function inside a large company. This page is about which of those you are, and it would rather you found out here.
Who you sell to
“Manufacturing” covers businesses with completely different customers, and the difference decides whether any of this is useful.
- Through a channel — dealers, distributors, stockists, retailers who resell what you make.
- To other makers — fabricators, job workers, assemblers who buy your output as an input.
- To trades — contractors, installers, service firms who consume materials.
- To large OEMs — a handful of named accounts with a procurement process.
The first three are outbound problems. The fourth is not, and the rest of this page is honest about that.
Who is findable
A business appears in listings when it wants customers to walk in or call. That is a strong filter and it points in a useful direction: the businesses that maintain a listing are the ones expecting to be contacted.
Dealers, distributors and retailers are usually well described. So are trade businesses — electrical contractors, interior fit-out firms, construction services — because that is how their own customers find them. For a manufacturer selling into any of those channels, a list of a few hundred in one city is a realistic starting point.
Who is not
- Procurement heads and plant managers by name. Nothing here produces named decision-makers or their direct contacts.
- Companies that do not maintain a public listing, which includes a great many industrial suppliers who get all their work by referral.
- Anything about what a business currently buys, or from whom. The most useful fact in industrial selling is the one no listing contains.
- Tender and contract activity. That lives in procurement portals, not here.
Check your own segment
Rather than take a claim about coverage on trust, search for the businesses you actually sell to. This is the live product and needs no account:
If your buyers come back in useful numbers, outbound is worth trying. If they do not, that is a real answer and it saves you a subscription.
Which channel
For Indian SMB manufacturing and its channel, WhatsApp is usually the one that gets answered — often at businesses with a phone number on every invoice and an email address nobody reads. Rechlio adds no platform fee to WhatsApp; you connect your own WhatsApp Business account and Meta bills you directly.
Email is worth having as a follow-up rather than an opener, and it is worth remembering that email coverage on a discovered list is patchier than phone coverage — no addresses are guessed. How email works here.
Send hours matter more in this sector than most
A factory does not answer at 9pm and a dealer does not want a message on Sunday. The default send window is Monday to Friday, 9:30am–6:30pm IST, and it is on by default for good reason.
When this will not work for you
- You sell to a small number of large accounts. That is relationship selling and outbound volume is beside the point.
- Your buyers are found through trade fairs, industry bodies and referral, and do not maintain public listings.
- You need named contacts and verified work emails before you can start. That is a contact-database purchase, and Rechlio is not one.
- You export, and your buyers are outside India. Rechlio is built for the Indian market and does not pretend otherwise.
Questions
- We sell components to two large OEMs. Is this useful?
- Probably not. Key-account selling into a handful of large buyers is a relationship problem, not a volume one, and nothing on this page helps with it. Outbound tooling earns its place when the list of plausible buyers is in the hundreds and you cannot work it by hand.
- Can I find businesses by what they manufacture?
- You search the way a category is described publicly — “packaging suppliers”, “CNC machining”, “electrical contractors” — rather than by a product code. Whether your specific segment is well described that way is exactly what the search on this page is for.
- Is WhatsApp appropriate for industrial selling?
- In India it is frequently the channel that gets answered, including at businesses with no real email habit. It still comes with rules: an approved template for the first message, and a 24-hour window after they reply. The rules in full.
